Good Morning
A voice woke him up. The kind that was soft and cheerful, perhaps a bit too cheerful, as Ash struggled to turn around in his bed, eyes just barely open. On the other side of his attic of a room, Leia grinned down at him from the doorway. It was time to go to school, something that Ash found he never had much enthusiasm for.
About the same age as him, Leia was Ash’s sister in everything but blood. Several years of living together with the girl and her father certainly ensured that she felt no hesitation to laugh at his morning face and was not affected at all by the following glares. Hiding under the covers didn’t help either, resulting only in the loss of a strategically important duvet, and when the kitten joined the fray, the battle was as good as lost.
The small white fluff may have looked sweet with that tiny bow on its tail, playing with Ash’s socks or being petted by Leia, but once it was put on your head by your wicked sister, it transformed into a many-clawed beast with no concept of remorse. The moment the nails dug into his skin, Ash jumped off the bed as if the sheets suddenly caught fire.
Leia, already a safe distance away, laughed merrily at the mission accomplished.
